ANYONE CAN CLOWN. THURSDAY 27th MARCH

Mutual Flux

ANYONE CAN…

What does the clown feel when painting their face on the egg? Is that egg suddenly a reflection? Is it a new you or the true you? What would you do? And would you see it through? Would you wear that red nose? And honk it too? How comically large is your comically large shoe? And when is it next going to flop?

There’s mystery with these clown types, I suppose. What will they do next? Much like our ‘Anyone Can’ workshops, in a way. We’ve had you writing and you’ve propagated your wildest ideas, but now it’s finally time, time to paint that damn face of yours. Fall! Fall in a way that looks both convincing and funny! You must create a hat so big and so conical that one can’t help but wonder what your deal is. They’ll never see it coming.

Fear not, the time and place are unchanged. We’ll meet again in Vault’s city centre gallery space at 6pm on the last Thursday in March (the 27th), and we will tragically part that very same day at 9pm. The time between will feature no lions, tigers, or bears, if that was a concern. This circus is free of animal cruelty. However, it is not free from more pompoms than you’ve ever dreamed of, or clown face paint, enough to white the skin of every animal in Belfast zoo, or the required materials to make conical hats, the likes of which this nation would quiver at the thought of. Quare joyful I’d say, quare joyful. We hope to see you there!

Anyone Can… is an ongoing series of workshops running for 6 months on the last Thursday of every month, with a different theme each month. These workshops offer a space for young people over the age of 18, to meet, share, and be creative. No need to book - just turn up.

Participant feedback:

‘Really fun, I laughed a lot!’

‘I enjoyed the worm poem and the others too!’

‘Great fun. I liked how it was very collaborative.’
