BUTTERMILK: EXPERIMENTAL AND PERFORMANCE SHORTS
Buttermilk is the second instalment in the ongoing series of exhibitions and projects that Vault Artist Studios are holding in our new Gallery/Project Space in Marlborough House.
Once again featuring work from members across both of our locations in Belfast, the emphasis on this occasion is on moving image, lens-based experiments and performance.
Last ‘Late Night Art’ we had you in; this time we’re broadcasting out, projecting work from thirteen Vault members onto our Gallery/Project Space windows.
Why buttermilk? Is this like a watermelon sugar thing? Boxty, baked goods, brining turkeys? None of that. An ancient material used in a new way: as the nights draw in and clocks move back and at a time when lights are used to encourage you to buy-buy-buy, we’re inviting you to reflect instead. Via the translucent properties of buttermilk.
Buttermilk will be projected onto the windows of our Gallery/Project Space.
The show will be visible from outside only.
Opens 2 November 2023 as part of ‘Late Night Art’, from 6–9pm at Vault Artist Studios, 28-32 Victoria St, Belfast BT1 3GG. Runs until 9 November.
