Chasing Ghosts - A Solo Exhibition by Artist Linda McBurney

Printmaker Linda McBurney invites you to explore her latest exhibition, "Chasing Ghosts," showcasing her innovative approach to printmaking. The exhibition features a series of unique prints, known as monoprints, each a singular work of art. By passing the inked plates through the printing press for a second time, the artist creates "ghost" images—ethereal and unexpected prints that emerge from the residual ink left on the plates.
Inspired by the concept of Tabula Rasa (clean slate), the artist engages with the blank printing plate through dynamic and swift painterly marks. Utilising materials such as encaustic wax, carborundum, and acrylic mediums, she embraces spontaneity and the unpredictable nature of the process. The artist's technique prioritises speed and fluidity, allowing the wax to dictate the movement, thus introducing an element of risk and relinquishing control.
