THE BELFAST THAT TIME FORGOT IN 3D
Belfast Buildings Trust (BBT) is delighted to announce 'Engaging Art', a new project in collaboration with Vault Artist Studios, in the former Carlisle Memorial Church, between Thursday 1st and Sunday 4th February.
Inspired by discussions about Belfast’s future, BBT will commission some of the talented artists from Vault to create brand-new installation artworks that reflect the city’s spaces, places, and people. The works created will be staged in the north Belfast landmark as a way to involve Belfast people in exploring how they want to shape their city’s future.
‘Engaging Art’ will launch with Leo Boyd’s ‘The Belfast that Time Forgot (in 3D)’.
Boyd’s style is instantly recognisable for many people who have walked past his murals and street signs, most notably ‘Belfast Romances’ on the external wall of the Bullitt Hotel. His work blends elements of collage, street art, propaganda, and pop art to create his distinctive style. And often, Boyd’s adopted town of Belfast is the subject of his work.
‘The Belfast that Time Forgot (in 3D)’ will replicate the Belfast skyline in a 3D model, large enough to wander through the installation’s streetscapes and buildings - like Godzilla! An on-site photographer will capture people roaming the simulated city.
Admission to ‘Engaging Art’ is FREE and open to everyone.
